Akinwolere

Former Blue Peter presenter, Ayo Akinwolere is now a BBC journalist for the West Midlands. He is a three-times BAFTA nominee and RTS award-winner.

Ayo spent 5 years on Blue Peter where he participated in some of the show’s most dangerous challenges.

On the show Ayo bungee jumped from a helicopter from a height of 11,000 ft in Santa Monica and broke the record for the deepest open water swim the Palau Trench in the Pacific Ocean; an impressive feat considering he had only learnt to swim 10 weeks prior to taking on the challenge.

Since Blue Peter, Ayo has demonstrated his diversity as a broadcaster, hosting many programmes for the BBC including Teens From A Small Island, Stammer School and World Olympic Dreams, for which interviewed sporting legend Usain Bolt. Currently, Ayo presents the West Midlands strand of the BBC current affairs show Inside Out.
