Akinwolere

Former Blue Peter presenter, Ayo Akinwolere is now a BBC journalist for the West Midlands. He is a three-times BAFTA nominee and RTS award-winner.

Ayo spent 5 years on Blue Peter where he participated in some of the show’s most dangerous challenges.

On the show Ayo bungee jumped from a helicopter from a height of 11,000 ft in Santa Monica and broke the record for the deepest open water swim the Palau Trench in the Pacific Ocean; an impressive feat considering he had only learnt to swim 10 weeks prior to taking on the challenge.

Since Blue Peter, Ayo has demonstrated his diversity as a broadcaster, hosting many programmes for the BBC including Teens From A Small Island, Stammer School and World Olympic Dreams, for which interviewed sporting legend Usain Bolt.

Ayo presents the West Midlands strand of the BBC current affairs show Inside Out. He has also reported for The Gabby Logan Show (Channel 5) and World of Weird (Channel 4) and hosted The 100 Greatest Toys ...
